Bicycle repair carries real physical risk. This page sets out plainly what our guides are, what they are not, and where responsibility sits.
The information on Upgel Bike Maintenance at https://upgel.online (the "Site") is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. By using the Site you accept this Disclaimer. If you do not accept it, please stop using the Site.
1. Safety — read this first
Our guides are written for a general audience and describe common procedures on common equipment. They cannot know your bicycle, its age, its condition, its previous repair history, or what the manufacturer specifies for it.
- Always follow your bicycle and component manufacturer's instructions, torque specifications and service limits. Where they differ from anything on this Site, the manufacturer wins.
- Torque figures matter, particularly on carbon fibre and lightweight alloy parts. Under-tightening can let a part slip; over-tightening can crack it. If a fastener has a specified torque and you cannot measure it, that is a job for someone who can.
- Inspect and test every repair before riding. Test brakes and steering at walking pace, somewhere safe, before riding normally.
- Some work — hydraulic brake bleeding, suspension internals, bearing pressing, wheel building, anything involving carbon fibre — needs specific tools and training. Attempting it without them can damage the part in ways that are not visible.
- If something does not look, sound or feel right after a repair, do not ride the bike.
2. General information only
We research our guides carefully and cite our sources so you can verify them. Even so, we make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability of anything on the Site. Any reliance you place on it is strictly at your own risk.
Specifications, standards and manufacturer instructions change over time. A figure that was correct when we published may not be correct for your component today.
3. Not professional advice
Nothing on the Site constitutes professional advice of any kind — mechanical, engineering, medical, legal or financial. Our guides are not a substitute for inspection and service by a qualified bicycle mechanic, and they are not a substitute for your manufacturer's documentation. Always seek appropriately qualified advice where it matters.
4. Your responsibility
You are responsible for assessing your own skill level, for using appropriate tools and protective equipment, for working safely, and for verifying your own work before riding. You are also responsible for complying with any local law or regulation governing bicycle equipment, lighting, braking and roadworthiness where you ride.
5. External links and sources
The Site links to third-party websites, including manufacturer documentation, standards bodies and published research. We provide these so you can check our sources. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
6. Products, tools and brands
Where we mention a tool, part or brand, it is because it is relevant to the procedure — for example, that a job genuinely requires a proper cable cutter rather than side cutters. Unless we say so explicitly on the page, such mentions are not paid placements and are not endorsements, and we make no warranty about any third-party product.
7. Advertising disclosure
The Site is supported by advertising. Advertisements are visually distinct from our guides. We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for the products, services or claims made in third-party advertisements, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them. No advertiser has any influence over the content of our guides. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.
8. Errors and omissions
The Site may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions. We reserve the right to correct them and to change content at any time without notice. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free. If you spot an error — especially a wrong specification or a step in the wrong order — please email contact@upgel.online. We would much rather fix it than leave it in front of the next reader.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Upgel and its owners, operators and contributors are not liable for any loss, injury or damage — including indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss — arising from your access to, use of, or inability to use the Site or anything on it. The Site and all content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind.
10. Fair use notice
The Site may quote limited portions of copyrighted material for commentary, criticism, scholarship, research and education. We believe such use is fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107. If you are a rights holder and believe any use exceeds fair use, please see our DMCA & Copyright Policy.
11. Changes to this Disclaimer
We may update this Disclaimer to reflect changes to the Site or to applicable law. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Disclaimer.
